Our Buyer’s Agent and Director, Kylie Frearson recently took the opportunity to explore some of Newcastle’s hidden gems with fellow Property Solutions 101 Buyer’s Agent, Siobhan Ferguson.
Get your stretch on | HAMILTON
Siobhan believes that there is no better place to stretch it out than Fitness Fix Pilates Studio, located at 70 Denison Street, Hamilton.
She points out that the best part of coming to Fitness Fix is that you don’t have to be an athlete or break the bank to get involved.
“I’d been wanting to try reformer Pilates for years but hadn’t found a place that had classes at times that suited and that were affordable. I found this online and tried it only a month or two ago (when they were in Kotara) and haven’t looked back,” she said.
The Fitness Fix crew believe that there isn’t a “one size fits all” approach to fitness and are all about finding the right fit for you.
There are options for people at all levels of capability and the qualified teachers will make you feel right at home from the get-go. There are even one-on-one personal training options available as well as an option for the new Mums out there who want to bring their bub along.
Kylie notes that Hamilton East is such a growing urban metropolis, with a high demand for property in the area.
On average Hamilton properties received around 918 visits per listing, plus with a compound growth rate of 7.6% for houses and 11.9% for units, there is plenty of opportunity for buyers to see return on investment in this area.
“There are so many options, whether it be for fitness, food, entertainment – Hamilton is so close to everything and that is reflected with the things buyers are looking to get in this area,” Kylie said.
A taste of Europe right at your doorstep | ADAMSTOWN
Next up was the authentically European baker, Pekárna, on Brunker Road in Adamstown.
Pekárna, which means ‘bakery’ in Czech, is home to some of the most delectable artisanal pastries and cakes in the Hunter region.
Baked fresh daily, there is something for every sweet, and even savoury, tooth at Pekárna.
“I love Pekárna because they make fab coffee and the best pastries around. They’re unusual pastries, different to the types in most bakeries or any I’ve had before,” Siobhan said.
Plus, with easy parking and access to public transport, there is no excuse to not check this place out.
From a property perspective, Adamstown could be the perfect location for a range of buyers, located only 6 kilometres from the Newcastle CBD.
Families, in particular, would benefit from this area with the large variety of respected schooling and early child-care facilities available.
Based on five years of sales, Adamstown has seen a compound growth rate of 6.5% for houses and 6.2% for units, with opportunities for further growth as amazing cafés/bakeries like Pekárna open up their doors.
The jungle in amongst the coal city | KAHIBAH
Newcastle is known as the coal city, however, in amongst that urban city lays the beautiful Glenrock look out, just off Burwood Road in Kahibah.
The contrast of Newcastle’s industrial architecture in amongst the luscious greenery and wildlife at Glenrock is what makes this place a ‘must-see’ spot on Siobhan’s list.
According to Siobhan, the forty-minute walk all the way down to Burwood Beach and Glenrock Lagoon near the Scout Camp is one of the many ways she de-stresses and gets in touch with nature again.
“It’s so peaceful with the most beautiful bushland and creek running through it. There’s a lookout from where you can see to the ocean. I can’t believe this bush exists in the heart of Newcastle,” she said.
Over the past 12 months, properties in Kahibah have tracked higher than the NSW average.
This increase has given investors and opportunity to capitalise on properties in the area, with opportunities for further growth as this area continues to develop.
“Perfect for older couples and families, Kahibah and the suburbs surrounding Glenrock are perfect for those who want to get out and enjoy the scenery and also appreciate it from their own window,” Kylie said.
