It’s been a big year for the Property Solutions 101 team. We’ve had a lot of ‘business’ wins in 2017, but for us, we are most proud of our commitment to the community.
Whilst we pride ourselves on the service we provide to our landlords, tenants, home owners and investors, we’re not just about the day-to-day running of our business. We have a clear focus on supporting the community we work within.
PS101 CHALLENGE
During 2017 we established the PS101 Challenge. Each month we challenged another local business to a battle, with the ‘loser’ donating $200 to the charity of choice of the winner. The challenges ranged from surfing, basketball free throws, the Ninja Warrior course, darts, table tennis and TreeTops.
Through the PS101 Challenge some of our money supported the Mentor Support Network, Solider On, the Joshua Caruso Foundation and many more, who shared in almost $3,000 in donations.
We’d like to thank Fox Stevens Conveyancing, HL Mullane & Son, Body Worx Physiotherapy, Harper Property, Wolfenden Plumbing and Smartline for stepping up to the challenge!
To round out the year we decided to take the PS101 Challenge to the next level and organised a Burg Eating Competition! With support from Newy Burger Co. (who donated all the burgers – a total of 190!) and the participation of over 20 local businesses, we managed to raise just under $6,000 for Charlie’s Run 4 Kids, supporting Logan and his family.
CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSBILITY
From a corporate perspective, we have been proud supporters of the Surfest Crowdfunding initiative for the Women’s Pro since its establishment, and this year we also entered the Lake Macquarie Speedboating crowdfunding – and won a speedboat sponsorship!
We have donated prizes and supported the NICU Ball, the BOTB event, the Josh Caruso Foundation and many more.
We were also proud to sponsor two teams from the Kahibah Football Club, ensuring that the next generation of soccer stars have access to the equipment and uniforms they need. We’re also thrilled to be helping out Chelsea, who is a young swimmer, competing in the state age swimming championships. She gets up at 4.30am every morning to train – which we find very impressive!
GIVING BACK
During 2017 our Director, Kylie Frearson, was appointed to the board of the Hunter Academy of Sport, donating her time and expertise to the volunteer board. From this, an exciting development late in the year was the opportunity to support local elite athlete and Giants Netball star – Sam Poolman. We are sponsoring Sam and her Netball Clinics and are excited to partner with someone who is keen to give back to the Hunter community.
Back to business, it was also an exciting year as we were named finalists in the Lake Macquarie Business Excellence Awards and the Hunter Business Awards. Whilst we didn’t come away with the win, we were impressed with the high calibre of businesses operating in the Hunter.
We already have big plans in place in 2018 for both the business and how we will continue to support charities and not-for-profits – so watch this space!
